Shula’s History with Black Angus Beef
William A. “Bill” Graham and David Younts opened the first Shula’s Steak House location with Coach Shula and assisted with setting the restaurant’s foundation. The Graham family owns one of the highest quality Angus farms in the country, which is located outside of Albany, GA.
Black Angus cattle produce some of the best beef in the world and are considered to be some of the most flavorful, juicy and tender beef of all brands. This expertise led Shula’s to serve Premium Black Angus Beef in our first Shula’s Steak House. Today, every Shula’s restaurant – from our signature Shula’s Steak Houses to our fast-casual Shula Burger restaurants serves Premium Black Angus beef.

Our Premium Black Angus Beef is hand selected based on 10 science-based specifications in marbling, maturity, uniformity, flavor, appearance, consistency, and tenderness. These custom selections are then aged to perfection for an average of 28 days to optimize flavor and tenderness and then cut to Shula’s industry-leading specifications using only the most desired center cuts.…. creating The Shula Cut®. Less than 1% of all beef sold in America qualifies for The Shula Cut®.
Our Shula Cut® steaks are so tender and flavorful, all they need is a dusting of our own “Perfect Seasoning” of Kosher salt and ground black pepper before being grilled over an open flame to caramelize the beef and seal in the natural juices. One taste and you’ll know why the Shula Cut® is still Undefeated!

Meet Shula’s Restaurants’ VP of Operations and Executive Chef Peter Farrand
Shula’s Restaurants’ Vice President of Operations, Peter Farrand – and his hand-picked culinary team – oversee Shula’s menu offerings and supervise the Shula’s test kitchen. In this role, they regularly test, refine, and develop new menu items for all Shula’s restaurants in a constant effort to bring a fresh, modern and distinctive approach to Shula’s classic American cuisine. Shula’s culinary team follows the latest food trends, participates in nationally-acclaimed Wine & Food Festivals, innovates with new kitchen techniques and technologies, concocts new craft cocktails, and explores new options for our award-winning wine lists and curated local and craft beer selection. In fact, nearly all of Shula’s Steak Houses win the prestigious Wine Spectator Award of Excellence each year for our exceptional wine selection.
